DOULA’S DIARY

CHANGING SHOES – CLASS TWO

Oct. 13 – Dublin Station

Our second session was held on October 13th at Dublin Station. In attendance were Lisa, a hospice nurse who is interested in becoming a Death Doula, her mother, Joan, Cheyenne Mease, author of Because it Matters: A Guide to Getting Your Life in Order before You Die, a caregiver who worked in hospice administration, a massage therapist and medical intuitive who helped his uncle pass and who had 3 out of body experiences and 4 near death experiences, and Jennifer and Anthony.

Cheyenne shared that her dad had dementia, and she had all his paperwork so that when the time came, she knew his wishes, and he was able to die with dignity. However, she shared that her husband’s father, 87, who lives with them, had not put together his wishes and plans for arrangements. She and her husband have two children, and she said she was anxious to begin the process of getting everything squared with her father-in-law.  Typically, a family will say, “well you know, they’ll do the right thing.” But in her extensive experience, as well as others in the group, not having a will or financials designated causes a “Pandora’s bee’s nest” in the family, leaving family members fighting or not speaking. Her takeaway was get the arrangements done ASAP or face a negative ripple effect.

Cheyenne said before publishing her book she had it reviewed by nurses, doctors, and lawyers.

Laurie asked the group if anyone had had a near-death or out of body experience.

The massage therapist and medical intuitive said Reiki or DMT breathing can help connect you to your past life.

Another attendee said that while undergoing surgery to repair a broken foot she woke up talking to someone who wasn’t there. The doctor told her she had died on the table. The person she spoke to was her Pop-Pop.

The medical intuitive said he believed her Pop-Pop was present.

An ex-hospice nurse recounted a story in which a male hospice patient liked to sit outside in a red cape. Right after he transitioned and she went into the room to meet the new resident, she was surprised to hear the resident say, “Can you please get the man in the red jacket to leave?”

Laurie said: We are all energy, so it makes this whole process really fascinating.

One of the class participants related a time in which she went to a concert in Quakertown. The band played: “See Me, Hear Me, Touch Me, Feel Me,”by the Who. Every time the verse “See Me” came around, the woman sensed someone right next to her. When she turned, she was her deceased daughter, Erica. This happened several times and she believed that Erica was sending her message,

The medical intuitive said that certain frequencies—like 432Hz—open a channel.

Laurie: What we want is to be able to go on our own terms.

An attendee recalled that when her husband was dying of Covid and renal failure, he was in hospice. At one point she told him she was going to get a cup of coffee, which she did, and when she returned, she felt a warm breeze, and knew he was gone.

Another attend said: I would sing to patients, do Reiki, and when I sang their eyebrows would go up.

Laurie: Our energy can be felt by their energy. Cited Ram Dass and Eckart Tolle books as guides. Psychedelics are permitted in some states for end of life but not in PA.

Jennifer talked about the silver thread, holding onto a silver thread as a child.

Another attendee shared how when a good friend was passing, she raised herself up out of bed, (possibly greeting a son who had passed.)

Laurie said that is very common.

Cheyenne recounted a situation in which she was called to the bedside of a young who was dying of brain cancer. And this story became an essay, ” “Why Young People Die”. The young man was struggled and had been pronounced dead, but his spirit seemed to be locked in his body. On her drive to his house, she said that she told him remotely that it was time to go. With that, three “beings” came down with their swords. The hospice nurse opened the bedroom window to allow his spirit to leave. Cheyenne reported that his crown chakra was being blocked by the cancer. She worked Reiki on his heart (to help his soul depart). Later she learned that the last thing he wanted was to go to QMart and get his sword rewrapped.

She said many people are afraid their leaving will be too much for loved ones, and they may wait to loved ones leave the room. Also when people fear hell, the fear can hold people here. With reiki, your energy helps their energy move on.

Tony: I don’t know who spoke to me… but I was going to visit a co-worker who had been laid off. I heard a voice say, “Do not go there, nothing good can come of this.”  Tony decided not to visit and later learned that the co-worker lost his mind, picked up a shotgun, and shot an innocent bystander.

Laurie: We are all so much more than we realize, and all so very connected. Suggesting another session on Past-Life Regressions, and also religious beliefs on death and dying. She recommended reading Journey of Souls by Dr. Newton.

Cheyenne, “In organ transplants, I have tapped into the energy of a donor’s heart, a donor’s kidney, and cleared them. This helps with better acceptance of an organ. (She works by referrals from physicians.)”

Laurie: “My brother-in-law died, unexpectedly. He had heart issues and was in the hospital. The day before, I spoke to him on the phone and I sensed this light. We talked about him coming home the next day but received a call the next morning that he had transitioned due to cardiac arrest.”

She later shared that right after her ex-husband passed, a light in her bedroom came on, went off, came on, went off. She took it as a message and called his daughters and told them that their Dad wanted them to know that he was OK.

Gina recalled after her father’s padding, said she found her Dad’s picture frame on the floor 3 days in a row. Another attendee said her clock was stopped at 6:40/time of death.

Next session is Oct. 38 at Greenshire Institute in Quakertown.
